Attention Texas ASA Shooter !!!!
We will be starting all 2013 remaining Texas ASA Federation events after June 1 at 9:00am.
. This will get us finished an hour earlier in the afternoon when it really starts to get hot.
|
The Texas ASA Federation again led the nation in 2012 in the number of ASA clubs, total participants, most shooters qualified for state, the highest attended qualifier in the nation and the highest attended state championship in the nation by over 100 shooters !!!
Thank You Texas, Oklahoma & Arkansas ASA Shooters!!!
We are looking forward to another great year in 2013. We have 22 state qualifiers on the schedule plus the State Championship. We have some new clubs coming on board in 2013. We would like to welcome Tejas Bowmen Archery Club in Corpus Christi, Archery on Fire in Conroe, and Sure Shots Archery Club in the Gatesville area.
Western Region Shoot-Out
The 2013 Western Region Shoot-Out will be hosted by Archer’s for Christ Archery Club in Paris, Texas. This year’s event will be run exactly like any other state qualifier. You shoot only one day. You may shoot either Saturday or Sunday. This event will count for SOY. Shooting this event will qualify the shooter for the Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas State Championships. This event will include other clubs from the Western region. Twin Cities Bow Hunters from Texarkana, Arkansas will be providing the Sims ranges and a longshot competition. 12 Ring Archery Club from Connerville, Oklahoma will be providing an animal practice range. Archer’s for Christ will be awarding Gist buckles for all adult, young adult and youth classes with 3 or more shooters. We hope to see you on May 25 & 26 at Archer’s for Christ for the Western Region Shoot-Out!!!!

| Shooter of the Year |
We had some great SOY races during the 2012 season. We had great comments about the SOY program for 2012. There will be no SOY rule changes for 2013.
- You may compete for SOY at ANY state qualifier on the schedule. (Including the Western Region Shoot-Out and the Twin Cities event)
- You MUST shoot 5 qualifiers PLUS the state championship to be eligible for SOY.
- You may shoot every qualifier on the schedule but your 5 HIGHEST scores plus your STATE CHAMPIONSHIP score will be your SOY total score.
- You MUST have a current ASA membership and valid ASA membership number in order to be eligible for SOY.
- There must be at least 3 competitors in a class in order to have a SOY competition for that class. (Per ASA Federation rules).
- Per ASA rules there is no SOY competition for Bow Novice class and Open C class.

| Texas ASA Federation Staff |
We would like to introduce our 2013 Texas ASA Federation Directors, Area Representatives and Webmasters. This is the crew that will assist the host clubs in running the shoots. They will also register shooters, tabulate scores, keep the paperwork in order, act as range officials, hand out awards, post scores, track SOY standings and generally stay busy with Texas ASA 3D all season.
Mike and Tracy Smith are your Texas ASA Federation State Directors.
The Texas ASA Area Representatives for 2013 are Kevin Guthrie, Dante Danesi, Blake Kidder, Dave Wenner and Mike & Tracy Smith. We will all be sharing duties assisting clubs around the state.
Jimmy Mitchell is our At Large Area Representative and Advisor. Jimmy is the former Western Regional Director and Texas State Director. Jimmy's passion for building the Texas ASA Federation is unsurpassed. Jimmy laid the ground work that has made the Texas ASA Federation the nation's best.
Glenn and Celeste Salsman are the Texas ASA Federation Webmasters. They are the people you all depend on to get the scores posted, track SOY scoring, and keep the TASA website up to date. We greatly appreciate Glenn and Celeste and the work that they do.
Remember.
All of the people mentioned above are volunteers. They do what they do because they love 3D archery and they love putting on great events. Shake their hand and tell them thanks when you get a chance. |

Scoring Ring and Speed Limit Rule Changes |
Scoring Rings |
Each target has two (2) 12-rings. At each target the lower 12-ring will be in play initially for all shooters. At each individual target a shooter may elect to have the upper 12-ring scored by announcing their intention to shoot for it. Upon announcing their election to shoot the upper 12-ring the scorekeepers will acknowledge and note this election, and the lower 12-ring will no longer be in play to be scored for that shooter on that individual target only.
The 14 ring is no longer in play for any classes during regular ASA competition. The 14 ring will still be used in ASA Pro/Am competition during Pro Pressure Point Shoot downs. |

Charles Jones and Maxey Trailers have generously donated a trailer to us to raffle for the last 3 years at the Texas ASA State Championship. The funds generated from this trailer has allowed us to give very nice club specific awards to our Young Adult, Youth and Eagles classes.
Here is a letter from Harold Murray that won the Maxey trailer at the 2012 state championship. |
Hello Charles,
My name is Harold Murray. I was the lucky winner of the Maxey trailer at the Texas ASA state shoot July. I am writing to thank all the people involved with donating a trailer to help support the youth archery for Texas ASA. The money raised really helps with getting young people back outside to enjoy the great sport of archery. Archery is a sport that is all types of children can get involved in and build self-esteem, confidence in their ability, interaction with other children and adults. Most of all, seeing the joy on their faces when they receive their medals. Again, I am thanking Maxey Trailers for their generous donation that impacts so many young people. |
Harold Murray
P.S. The trailer was sold to raise money for a ministry (Centershot Ministries) in Crescent, OK where we teach children and adults Biblical truths and archery. So, two states were greatly affected by your generosity. |
This will be the biggest and best Texas ASA 3D season ever.
We are looking forward to seeing all our friends. Come out and share in the fun and excitement..... The Texas ASA Tournament Trail 2013.
